Have you ever heard of the saying, “take the trip, buy the shoes, eat the cake”? A lot of us have limitations to our exploration which often include time, money, little ones at home or all of these. I encourage you this year to ‘take the trip”!

Bring your classroom to life as you share your story. Invite your students to share experiences that they have had to spark their interests in the topic being covered. You will really learn about your students as you study all the places that they have been and dream of going!

Traveling will provide you with a new outlook on life and experiences. These stories will bring excitement to your children at home and in the classroom.
Sharing the story of your travels with students builds a connection with them that they will remember throughout the years. Tell them of places you have been and places you dream of going! Share pictures as it relates to your classroom grade level and curriculum.

If you visited the beach and took pictures of seashells, share pictures as you teach about them! After hiking the Appalachian Trail, discuss the history of the trail and relate it to the students curriculum. Create a list of items you would bring with you while hiking and have students map out the elevation changes as you hike.

Use this opportunity to ask your students which places they would like to travel too. Have them share their travel ideas with their classmates in a class discussion or written journal response. The world is ours to explore! We can even do it from our classroom!
